10 Things to Do in Benidorm at Night
Benidorm is a tourist destination that is internationally known for its nightlife. That's why I'm going to tell you about some of the things you can do to entertain yourself after sunset in this beautiful city.
The things to see and do in Benidorm don't stop just because the sun stops shining in the sky. It's in a city that has one of the busiest party scenes in Spain. In fact, for many tourists, partying in a place like this is comparable to the experience of being in Ibiza in summer and visiting Rio de Janeiro during Carnival.
With that in mind, I invite you to continue reading this post in which I tell you about the most interesting places in this city when it comes to looking for plans and activities to do at night. But always in a safe and entertaining way.
1. Party in the nightclubs of the national road
Benidorm is a community where every type of experience you can imagine has a place and respect when it comes to celebrating a night on the town. This has allowed for the development of legendary venues that are a must for those who are having a three day trip to Benidorm as well as those who plan to spend the whole season in the town.
The section of the big discotheques located on the national road is one of these places and basically it is the favourite place to continue the party until dawn.
In this place there are several establishments that year after year accumulate thousands of visitors for the quality of their music, for their excellent atmosphere or for the security they offer to their visitors to have fun with no strings attached and without danger. Penélope, Manssion and The Tropical House are just some of these establishments, but the after hours venues that allow you to dance until after 6am are particularly relevant.
Bear in mind that this is a plan that you will be sharing with a relatively young audience, as the people who are interested in extending a night out to the maximum tend to be university students or those in their early adulthood. So a great way to get the youthful adrenaline pumping in the morning or afternoon could be to join one of Benidorm's jet ski tours along the coast.
2. The Benidorm Palace is another place not to be missed
If I'm talking about legendary nightlife establishments in Benidorm which have become an activity worth enjoying then you can't miss the Benidorm Palace. It is an iconic place in the world of cabaret in this famous city. For more than four decades it has become a benchmark for what live shows can be in a Spanish Mediterranean tourist destination.
It is a place I recommend you visit if you feel like enjoying a good dinner with a show included. During all the nights that this establishment is open, there are different shows, among which the vedette shows stand out. Dance shows, live music and even shows specialising in magic and humour are another of the great attractions of this place.
Bear in mind that this is a place aimed exclusively at an adult audience. For this reason it's a good idea to take part in an activity such as boat trips around Benidorm during the afternoon in case you're travelling with children and you're going to feel a bit bad about making separate plans for the evening.
3. Walk around the old town for a drink
The modernity of Benidorm with its hundreds of skyscrapers might lead you to believe that this is a town that doesn't have an old town. However, this is one of the most interesting parts of the whole town and there is no doubt that touring the area is one of the best things to do in the evening. Whether you are travelling with the family or just want to enjoy a stroll among adults.
The area itself is quite attractive from a tourist point of view, as it is made up of the typical narrow cobbled streets that characterise many Mediterranean towns such as Benidorm. However, touring the area in search of a party means that you can go from bar to bar and pub to pub. Of particular note are the ones located in the Calle de los gatos.
Marrs Bar, Bar 69 and El Callejón are some of the legendary establishments in this neighbourhood. At night you can't miss the opportunity to see the church of San Jaime or to enjoy panoramic views of the bay from Carrer del Metge Don Cosme Bayona.
Pub La Sal is a good alternative if you're looking for Spanish music and a visit to all these places is certainly one of the best things to do in Benidorm in August. In fact, a bike tour of Benidorm is a good alternative if you want to see the area during the day from a different perspective.
4. Don't hesitate to visit the Casino Mediterraneo in Benidorm
Things to do in Benidorm at night are not just about exploring the areas with the most bars or the best party atmosphere. The truth is that there are specific establishments that are an attraction of the city in their own right. The Benidorm Casino fits this description perfectly and its strategic location within the Rincón de Loix neighbourhood makes it a place not to be missed in this city.
The exact name of this place is Casino Mediterráneo de Benidorm and despite being a relatively new establishment it has become a favourite haunt for sports fans and true lovers of g ambling. On the ground floor you'll find a myriad of televisions which make it the ideal place to enjoy evening sporting events or if you want to play a little bit of your luck you could also take part in sports betting.
On the first floor of the site there are also tournaments of some of the typical games of chance such as poker or Twenty One Black Jack. There is also an exhibition full of works by local artists which can be very interesting for those who don't wish to gamble, but are looking for a taste of Benidorm's culture.
As this is an evening activity it's a great thing to do after one of the best excursions from Benidorm. Especially if it's a hiking trip to the nearby Sierra Helada nature reserve.
5. Take a tour of the guiris' area
The British public is one of the most profitable sectors for tourism in some Spanish cities such as Ibiza or Benidorm. In turn, visitors from the UK are known as guiris and their presence is so significant in Benidorm that they have their own party areas. These areas are designed to please and attract this type of tourist.
Therefore, if you want to witness the style of nightlife that the British seek to experience on their long summer holidays or spring break in Benidorm you can't miss the guiris area. This basically runs along the streets Gerona, Lepanto and Mallorca. Of the most famous bars I can highlight Jocker's and Red Dog and both are characterised by a predominantly carnival atmosphere.
So when visiting this area during the night it won't be too difficult to find people wearing costumes, feathers and cowboy hats. Plus, all of this is accompanied by attractions such as mechanical bulls and old record players within these types of establishments.
If you're keen to see some of the other big British tourism interests in the city then you can't miss some of Benidorm' s best water parks. This is definitely a good plan for the next day and for the whole family.
6. Take the opportunity to see a flamenco show
Although Benidorm is a Valencian city located on the Costa Blanca and doesn't have much of a cultural connection with flamenco, it is true to say that this type of show has become an important part of the things to see and do at night in this city. This is due to the large number of foreign tourists who come to this destination looking to get to know the most important aspects of the Spanish identity.
Exactly for this reason you can't miss this kind of shows and there are different places in the city where you can do it in a comfortable and safe way. Most of them are located in the surroundings of the old town of Benidorm and among all the establishments I can recommend the Taberna Andaluza located in Esperanto street stands out. This is due to the fact that they regularly organise flamenco shows even when it's not the summer tourist season.
Keep in mind that this type of event is one of the few things you can do in Benidorm with children in the evening that involves a visit to a commercial establishment. At the same time, if you're left wanting to explore other places that offer an authentic experience then you can't miss the nearby town of Guadalest with a short day trip from Benidorm.
7. Experience the LGBT party Benidorm style
Benidorm has room for all kinds of experiences and the most diverse communities you can imagine. Exactly for this reason it has become a very important destination when it comes to experiencing LGBT nightlife in the tourist destinations of the Costa Blanca. So it is recommended that you take the opportunity to get to know these types of establishments when you are in this city after sunset.
Most of them are located in the old town and in fact this area can be considered as the gay area par excellence of the city, as there are more than 30 bars focused on this type of parties in the area. I can advise you to opt for those that offer a casual drink if you are not very interested in a full and hard night out and without a doubt the Drags Queens shows are another thing you shouldn't miss.
Brief Encounter, People Disco Pub and Sensations are just some of the establishments you should visit. At the same time, you should know that Benidorm Gay Pride is celebrated after August and just for this reason a visit to these types of establishments can be one of the best things to do in Benidorm on a trip during the month of September.
8. Have an evening stroll along Levante and Poniente
There are times when after an exhausting day of physical exertion you just want a little walk in the fresh air to clear your mind and recharge your batteries. This in order to give it all to the next day, which would be filled with a lot of other tourist activities. If this is the case then an evening stroll along the Levante and Poniente beaches becomes one of the best things to do in Benidorm at night.
These two sites are the kilometres long beaches that stretch along the bay of Benidorm and are divided in the middle by the oldest section of Benidorm. Here you will find the famous Balcon del Mediterraneo viewpoint , which offers panoramic views of the whole region.
Keep in mind that in Poniente you will find a much more familiar atmosphere with a smaller number of people and its modern promenade will allow you to enjoy the night in all its splendour. The Levante, in turn, will bring you much closer to the epicentre of the English party scene within the city and either way, a stroll along both promenades is one of the best things to do in Benidorm.
9. Enjoy a dinner with an authentic Valencian paella
As Benidorm is a city within the Valencian region of Valencia, one of the best evening plans is the chance to dine on authentic paella in the best style of this Spanish region. Throughout the city you will find dozens of restaurants dedicated to Iberian gastronomy, however, there is a list of very modest establishments, but with a significant quality in their products that will make you live an excellent gastronomic experience.
El Bar Cofradía in the city centre, the Marisquería Córdoba which is also in the same area, the Restaurante Aitona and El Pescaito are some of these places worth visiting. I suggest you visit these places after taking part in some of the best kayaking activities in Benidorm, as you 'll have enough appetite to properly enjoy such a hearty meal as paella.
At the same time, if you're left wanting to further explore the origins of this famous dish in the Spanish culinary world then don't hesitate to opt for a day trip to Valencia from Benidorm. It's something that will also be worthwhile for the characteristic beauty of the city.
10. Don't hesitate to enjoy a festival if your visit coincides with it
Benidorm is a place that has absolutely everything to do with the world of summer holidays and the massive events that take place during this busy time of the year. For this reason participating in the festivals that are organised in this city is something that you can't miss on the nights of your trip if your visit coincides with the organisation of these events.
Among the different festivals that I can highlight is the Low Festival which has a repertoire of artists that are mainly British bands. There is also the Benidorm Sound which has a slightly more varied musical repertoire and the very famous Reggaeton Beach Festival stands out with special relevance. All of these take place in summer dates, such as late July or mid September.
