Step by Step
Tour New Orleans accompanied by an expert guide and learn about the history and the long tradition of jazz that characterises this city. For about 2.5 hours, you'll visit some of New Orleans' most iconic neighbourhoods and see several of the city's monuments dedicated to the great figures of this musical genre.
In a group of no more than 12 people, you will pass through the French Quarter, the oldest in the city, and arrive at Louis Armstrong Park, erected in honour of New Orleans' most famous son. Louis Armstrong, also known as Pops, was a jazz trumpeter and singer, considered the most famous musician of his genre.
You will have the opportunity to tour the Marigny district, known for its Cajun bistros, bohemian bars and jazz clubs. This entertainment district is the trendy nightlife area and it is common to find jazz musicians singing and improvising in the streets.
On Frenchman Street, you'll have the opportunity to have a beer in a venue recommended by your guide, while listening to live music. The street has the highest concentration of bars and live music venues in New Orleans.
Jazz is a musical genre that originated with the African-American slave population of the southern United States in the late 19th century. It has its origins in African tribal music and is closely related to genres such as blues, Cajun music and zydeco. Jazz is also distinguished by its rhythmic style, called swing, and by the role of improvisation in its music, which means that no two jazz songs are exactly the same.
Once the activity is over, you'll be able to get tips and recommendations from your guide for other jazz bars and venues worth visiting. An ideal activity for music lovers .
