Step by Step

This off-road excursion is the perfect way to discover the secrets of the Teide National Park, a World Heritage Site and one of the most fascinating places in Tenerife. The route starts in Santa Cruz, the island's capital, and goes all the way to the nearby natural area. It is an interesting experience because it is designed for small groups - only the passengers in the jeep - and allows you to fully enjoy the excursion. An expert driver/guide is available at all times.

If your hotel or rental house is in Santa Cruz (or in the immediate vicinity), you can request a pick-up service. Otherwise, you will have to reach the starting point by your own means. As for the duration, it is approximately 7 hours.

The Teide National Park covers an area of some 19,000 hectares and is well worth a visit for the breathtaking beauty of its landscapes. As you gradually ascend the slopes, you will notice how the green forests give way to an inhospitable environment at first sight. Above 2,500 metres, the vegetation is almost non-existent, but endemic species such as the Teide violet and rabbit grass sprout in the heights.

As far as fauna is concerned, bats are the only endemic species (small cockatoo and Canary Island bats), but mammals such as the mouflon, the maroon cat and the black hedgehog also thrive. Even more abundant are the birds, the true stars of the park along with insects and invertebrates. Here you can see kestrels, partridges, swifts and other species.

The route includes a stop in Masca, an inland town completely surrounded by mountains. The Guanches took refuge here after the Spanish conquest, and their passage is attested to by the graves scattered around. Getting there is not easy, but the views are worth the effort. Please note that the tour does not include dinner, but during the stops, for example in Masca, you will have the opportunity to eat something to eat.
