Step by Step

This activity will introduce you to the most representative dance of Andalusia, flamenco. With these tickets you will be able to attend a show in a tablao to admire the singing, the enveloping rhythm of the guitar and the sinuous movements of the dancers. The activity lasts approximately 2 hours and includes a drink with or without alcohol.

Normally, the best flamenco in Cordoba is in the city centre, within walking distance of the Mosque Cathedral and the Roman Bridge. Performances usually take place in the Tablao El Cardenal, housed in an elegant 17th century mansion. In addition to dance and guitar, there is also an exhibition of traditional flamenco costumes. Getting there is not complicated, just follow the instructions in the email you receive after booking the experience.

Cordoba and flamenco are closely linked. In the past, this musical genre was especially popular in the taverns of the Jewish quarter, which attracted artists from all over the region. Today, the tablaos of the old Jewish quarter have practically disappeared, but flamenco survives in other areas of the city where it has become an important tourist attraction. Today, the city of the caliphs is home to some of the best artists in this discipline.

Flamenco is an art form that is the fruit of artistic contamination. This music owes much to the gypsy people, but also to Jewish compositions, Byzantine songs and Muslim, Hindu and Mozarabic melodies. The most widely accepted etymology is that it derives from "Felah-Mengus", which roughly means "wandering peasant".

Originally it included neither dance nor guitar, two elements that are essential today. They were added later, especially during the so-called Golden Age that began in the second half of the 19th century.

The complimentary drink was not what I expected and the drinks were overpriced.
