Step by Step

Get to know one of the most important volcanic regions in the world on a half-day hike to the Meradalir volcano from Reykjavik, which takes place in the afternoon and evening.

Upon arrival at your destination you will be accompanied by a local guide who will take you to learn about the history of the volcanoes in the area, hot springs and other wonders of nature:

  • Lake Kleifarvatn: it is the largest and one of the deepest lakes on the Reykjanes peninsula. It has a surface area of 9 square kilometres and is 97 metres high.
  • Fagradalsfjall Volcano: You will walk for 2 to 4 hours through the mountains and lava and moss fields leading to the volcano. Routes may vary depending on the activity of the volcano.
  • Reykjanes Peninsula: You will see green water lakes and the different volcanic crater areas of the region that offer a memorable natural landscape.
  • Krysuvik Geothermal Area: an area surrounded by volcanic vents and hot springs with a hilly landscape in various shades. Here you will find Seltun Hot Springs, a beautiful natural hot spring.

Transport to and from selected points in Reykjavík will be provided by a comfortable, air-conditioned minibus, so that you travel in comfort from start to finish of your experience.
