Step by Step

Join this tour to the west of Crete, where you will enjoy some of the most beautiful landscapes of the island, as well as places of historical interest. The tour will last approximately 9 hours, during which you will be accompanied by an expert guide . You will learn about the culture and history of the places you will visit from your guide.

You will start the tour by visiting Chania, an important city dating back to the Minoan era and considered "the mother of Cretan cities" because of its beauty and antiquity. Over the centuries, Chania has been ruled by different peoples, such as Venetians, Ottomans and Greeks, which is reflected in the mixture of architectural styles of its buildings.

The city is divided into the Old Town, which has a magnificent 14th-century Venetian harbour, and the New Town, built beyond the old Venetian fortifications. The Old Town is considered one of the most beautiful cities in the Mediterranean and is nicknamed "the Venice of the East".

In addition to its beautiful old town, Chania's monuments include the Yali Mosque, the Byzantine church of St. Nicholas and the 16th century Venetian fortress .

After Chania, you will continue your excursion to Lake Kournas, a freshwater lake surrounded by mountains and lush vegetation that will delight nature lovers. The lake is known not only for its beauty, but also for its abundant wildlife, including hawks and eagles, carp, trout and even the two-coloured turtles .

At the lake you cantake a refreshing swim and enjoy some free time for a walk in the surrounding area. The last stop of the tour will be in Rethymno, the third largest city of Crete. Here, you can admire the mix of Ottoman, Venetian and Greek architecture, reflecting the rule of the different peoples that have occupied the city.

Stroll through the old town and admire its Turkish minarets, Venetian fortresses and the Clock Tower, a symbol of the city. If you wish, you can visit the Archaeological Museum of Rethymno, which has exhibits from the Minoan and Roman eras. Or you can simply enjoy the magnificent harbour, where local restaurants offer delicious seafood and fresh fish dishes.

After the activity you will return to the original starting point, as this is a round trip.
