Step by Step
Discover the treasures of Berlin's Museum Island on this guided tour lasting approximately 3 hours with an expert local guide. Avoid long waits with a skip-the-line ticket to two remarkable museums: the Pergamon Museum and the New Museum. Enter both museums and admire the impressive collection of antiquities, as well as the famous bust of Nefertiti and unsurpassed displays of Egyptian, prehistoric and protohistoric art. In addition, this tour includes admission to the other three galleries on Museum Island.
During your visit to the Pergamon Museum, an expert local guide will lead you through the halls of the museum where you will see the most important work, the Pergamon Altar. This Hellenistic-era religious monument, built over 2,000 years ago, is undoubtedly the highlight of the museum. You will marvel at the colossal Ishtar Gate, symbol of ancient Babylon and the great 2nd century marble monument, the Market Gate of Miletus. Admire this incredible structure, damaged during World War II, which was later rebuilt and installed in the museum.
The Pergamon Museum houses a collection of over 270,000 objects from the great excavations in Babylon. It exhibits more than 6,000 years of culture from Mesopotamia, Syria and Anatolia and houses examples of ancient Islamic art from the 8th to the 19th century. On the other hand, in small groups of about 15 people you will visit the jewel of the five museums, the Neues Museum Berlin, which houses an impressive collection with unsurpassed examples of Egyptian art.
With more than 2,500 objects on display spread over more than 3,000 square metres, you'll see Roman bronze statues, ancient Egyptian sporophagi, Berlin's famous 3,000-year-old Golden Hat, and the Berlin Head, the most famous of the five museums.000 years old and the Berlin Green Head from the late Egyptian period. You will discover the master jewel of the museum, the caliph stone bust of Nefertiti, the great royal wife of the Egyptian pharaoh Akhenaten. This stucco-covered lime bust of the Egyptian queen has been preserved in perfect condition in the Neues Museum since its creation in 1351 BC. Thanks to this unique piece, it is one of the most visited museums in Berlin.
After your guided tour, explore the other galleries on Museum Island with your free day ticket.
