Come to the Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto, where you can discover the ever-changing face of fashion through a universally worn garment: shoes. Throughout the activity, you will be able to use a free audio guide, thanks to which you will be able to learn many interesting facts about the evolution of shoes throughout history.

The Bata Shoe Museum is dedicated exclusively to shoes and uses this garment to show the changing social fabrics of cultures around the world, past and present. You can see chestnut-crushing French boots alongside delicately embroidered Chinese silk shoes, moose-skin moccasins and even footwear made from human hair.

The museum has more than 13,000 exhibits spanning 4,500 years of footwear history , from ancient Greek and Egyptian sandals to the elegant creations of today's couture catwalk designers. It also houses iconic shoe items, such as Elton John's silver boots and Elvis Presley's blue loafers.

The museum building itself is a work of art, having been designed by the iconic, award-winning architect Raymond Moriyama, one of Canada's most famous architects. In addition to its permanent exhibitions, the museum also has constantly changing temporary exhibitions designed to delight all visitors.
